Welcome
Oh, how I wish you were here right now, sitting with me in my living room just enjoying a good conversation. If you were, our chatting would soon be interrupted by the sounds of my 4 busy children. And if you were to stay long enough, my husband would inevitably talk you into staying for a cup of coffee. But through the busyness and the noise, I would love to hear your God story (past and present), laugh together, possibly cry together, and pray together. I hope you’d feel welcome here and able to ask questions about whatever was on your heart.

While I’d love to have each and every one of you into my home for hours on end to learn and grow together, I know that can’t be the case. So I’m using this blog as a tool to share with you some of the things I think we’d talk about while you were visiting. You’ll get to know me better through this blog. And I hope to get to know you better too! I hope you share what God is doing and ask questions about anything and everything.

How to Boil Water is meant to be a place for young women who are praying and preparing for the ministry of homemaking. And it is for women who are learning how to practically apply the truth of God’s Word to everyday life. Being a wife, mother and/or homemaker is a beautiful gift from God! It’s a calling that I hope you learn to value and enjoy. But it’s also one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I say a lot in crazy situations, “Well, they didn’t teach me how to handle this in college!” And it’s the truth! Although, to be honest, I’m not sure how full the roster would be on a class with the main topic being how to clean puke out of a carseat while leaning over the console of a vehicle moving 70mph down the highway without dying or making more of a mess. Most of these lessons come through trial and error or life experience. But perhaps by sharing some of the crazy things I’ve learned on this journey, I can help you become better equipped for your ministry in the home.

So join me here for a glimpse into home. A glimpse at what practical Theology looks like in the everyday as a wife and mom. And maybe along the way we will learn a few simple and helpful things like how to boil water. My home is far from perfect, but it’s my favorite place in the world! And I hope you come to look at your home with such fondness as you learn to be a faithful steward.
